allmesopotamia: The Great Ziggurat of ancient Ur. Ur(rrh) of the Chaldeas, as Father Walter Bly would have said, right before informing us all of the reign of Nebuchudinosaur. And, yes, that was how he spelled and pronounced it. He was a strange man, but he got forty years of high school freshmen to remember their facts about the Levantine bronze age, with, thankfully, little of the standard religious indoctrination one experienced in the rest of the theology courses at (the very Catholic) high school I attended/survived four years of before marching up the road to Holy Cross College, and, a year later, across the street to the equally Catholic and indoctrinating, yet, also, liberating if you knew where to look, University of Notre Dame.Anyway, here is the start of it all.
